Laid out along the banks of a dry river bed, is Stone Camp in Mkhaya Game Reserve, where the vegetation comprises of tall fig, sausage and knobthorn trees, with a lush under-canopy giving it a year-round subtropical feel. ‘Stone Camp’ gets its name from the dolerite rocks used in the construction of the stone and thatch cottages. Dining is out under the stars or in the shade of the jackleberry trees in the camp. The camp has no electricity so at night you can fall to sleep to the music of the African bush.

Each of the 13 cottages are laid out in the riverine forest, linked by pathways and lined with paraffin lanterns at night. Each cottage, veiled for privacy, is open to the external bush, giving visitors a safe and unique perspective with a true bush experience.

Reilly’s Rock is a luxury and unique hilltop lodge tastefully decorated in keeping with its colonial roots. Notwithstanding the necessary subtle additions and renovations, the house still stands as it was built almost a century ago. Time slows down here so that you can have a leisurely breakfast on the veranda over looking the sanctuary whilst watching the birds feeding along with small antelope.

Each of the 6 bedrooms have access to a veranda, are en-suite, retaining that colonial feel and certainly a place to remember. Meals are served on the terrace over looking the whole of Mlilwane Sanctuary or inside in the old colonial dining room.
