The Umhlanga Reed Dance is a traditional dance and ceremony where up to 60,000 maidens gather and dance for the Queen Mother. Taking place over a week, it is largely private, however its final two public days are a spectacle that is unrivalled in Africa today. Thousands of maidens dress up in brightly coloured attire and sing, dance together as they deliver the reed or Umhlanga to the Royal Residence. It is a spectacular event to see.

The Kingdom of Eswatini (Swaziland) has eluded mass tourism and its discreet and untouched attractions are delightful. After time spent at the Reed Dance enjoy safaris on foot and by vehicle where you may be the only people in the reserve. Immerse yourselves in the culture and the intimate wildlife of Swaziland.
