Namibia is a vast country where wildlife graze in the shimmer of mirages and there is a wilderness waiting for you to explore. Discover the northern part of Namibia, the less travelled and remoter areas where you can immerse yourself into wide open spaces. Travel though one of the finest game reserves in the world, Etosha National Park, where there is a wealth of wildlife to be discovered lion, elephant, cheetah, rhino….

The sights to behold will be breath taking and you can be sure of a memorable and inspiring holiday, away from the crowds and into spectacular northern Namibia safari. The photos that you take may not be able to capture the sights that you will see!

Day 1: Elegant Guest House
See Windhoek at your own pace and recover from your travels.
Accommodation: This modern, up-market Guesthouse accommodation consists of 6 luxurious en-suite double rooms and a fully equipped boardroom.

Days 2 – 3: Okaukuejo Rest Camp – discover Etosha
Namibia self drive safari accommodationFamous for its floodlit waterhole Okaukuejo Rest Camp is the best place to see wildlife all day long. The waterhole is a hub of animal activity starting in the early hours of the morning; a rich diversity of game congregate in close proximity to the camp to quench their thirst. This is the best time and place to see the endangered black rhino. This archaic mammal can often be seen drinking alongside lion and elephant.

Accommodation: The Bush Chalet offers ample living space with a lounge and braai area as well as an en-suite bathroom. Perfect after a days safari.

Day 4: Mushara Bush Camp – drive the length of Etsoha
Namibia self drive safari accommodationThe drive across Etosha is something else.  Take it at your own pace and explore the vastness of Etosha. The Mushara Bush Camp offers a down-to-earth tented bush camp experience which is well suited as an exceptional affordable base for families exploring the magical Etosha Pan National Park.

Accommodation: Each of the 16 custom made en-suite tents is built from canvas, wood and local limestone. With a private veranda and windows from floor to ceiling, these tents are spacious and airy. 

Day 5: Bahay Guesthouse – explore Oshakati
Namibia self drive safari accommodation Oshakati Oshakati is the major town in far northern Namibia. There is an interesting mix of local open air markets selling meat, Mopane worms (a local delicacy), dried chillies and an assortment of vegetables and anything else you can dare to imagine. The town enjoys a vibrant local entertainment scene, with a variety of small clubs that usually feature live bands. A great stop over place for your journey north.

Accommodation: There is a sparkling pool where guests can cool off and relax as well as a garden which offers tranquility and some peace and quiet.  A healthy and hearty breakfast is also on offer.

Days 6 – 7: Kunene River Lodge – activities for everyone
Namibia self drive safari accommodationVast landscapes, wildlife and historic culture abound in this wild, remote part of Africa where the Kunene River forms a natural boundary between Namibia and Angola. Kunene River Lodge is one of the country’s most famous adventure centres, where adrenalin goes hand-in-hand with peace and tranquility, in the most beautiful setting you could imagine. Try rafting, birding, hiking and visiting the Himba tribe, your choice.

Accommodation: Spacious air-conditioned deluxe rooms overlook a substantial lawn surrounded by trees and shrubs, near the secluded swimming pool set in its own lawn. A haven after your adventurous day.

Day 8: Kapika Waterfall Lodge – visit the Himba tribe
Namibia self drive safari accommodationEpupa is one of Namibia’s prime tourist destinations. Visit one of the last Nomadic tribes on our earth, the Himba or Ochre people, who live in Kaokoland. They are a very friendly, loving and caring tribe. Guests have the opportunity to visit a Himba village with a guided tour with one of the tour guides who know the people and the area. There is also the chance for birding, walking and sundowners looking over the incredible Epupa Falls.

Accommodation: Kapika Waterfall Lodge has 10 luxury chalets overlooking Kunene River, pool, and restaurant. Enjoy a private sundowner from your own balcony…

Day 9: Camp Kipwe – Damaraland delights

Damaraland is renowned for its geology, unusual rock formations, rock paintings, and rare desert-adapted flora and fauna. Activities include elephant nature drives and visits to the rock engraving and other unusual geological formations.

Accommodation: Twin bedded igloo-shaped bungalows (can be converted to a double bed) with air-conditioning, en-suite facilities with outdoor shower and ablutions.

Day 10: Cape Cross Lodge – Cape Cross seal colony
Namibia self drive safari accommodation seal colonyCape Cross Lodge presents a unique and serene stop for travellers along this vast untamed and seldom explored wilderness on the Skeleton Coast. Around this idyllic oasis lies infinite ocean and desert, littered with the eerie remains of man’s past endeavours. Nearby, rocky outcrops provide a perfect playground for a large colony of Cape Fur Seals. Visitors can self-drive or even walk to the colony. The noise and smell is over whelming!

Days 11 – 12: Cornerstone Guesthouse – explore Swakopmund
